A ghastly motor accident along Lokoja-Okene Road, Kogi State, has claimed two lives, while six other passengers were critically injured on Monday.
According to an eyewitness, the accident occurred late on Monday around the gate of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, in the Adavi Local Government Area of the state.
The source attributed the accident to overspeeding.
“The accident happened very late on Monday night, around the gate of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara. The accident may have been caused by speeding.
“The people around there immediately rushed to offer the needed assistance before the arrival of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel,” the source said.
According to the manifest sighted by LEADERSHIP, there were eleven occupants in the vehicle. However, the condition of the remaining three passengers cannot be immediately ascertained.
The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Kogi State, Tenimu Yusuf Etuku, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said his men, who went on a rescue operation, were yet to give him a comprehensive report on the accident.
“Yes, I got the information about the accident. I immediately sent my men in Abobo and Okene to the scene of the accident.
“I’m yet to get their report. I will get back to you as soon as they turn in their report,” Etuku said.
