1,300 Host Community Residents Get Champion Breweries’ Free Medicare

In line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), more than 1,300 host community persons with various health challenges have received free medical treatment through Champion Breweries’ medical outreach launched for residents of Nung Oku community in Ibesikpo Asutan local government area of Akwa ibom state.

The two-day medical outreach programme, conducted in collaboration with Ima Bridge Hospital, according to organisers, featured free eye consultations, health education sessions, eye screenings, and the distribution of reading glasses.

Other cases involved screening and treatment for malaria, hypertension, diabetes, and other common conditions, including health awareness campaigns tailored towards supporting residents of the community

Addressing the people before flagging off the event, the Managing Director of Champion Breweries PLC, Dr Inalegwu Adoga, said the beverage firm had long been committed to delivering life-changing projects that positively impact the well-being of the people of the State, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining the health intervention scheme.

Represented by Theophilus Akporie, Head of Logistics and Operational Excellence, the managing director maintained that the company would remain committed to ensuring that “The host communities and the good people of Akwa Ibom state win together with the firm in all its undertakings.”

He urged the patients to embrace the opportunity provided by the medical outreach to address their various health challenges. He tasked them to pay adequate attention to the health education centre so that they could live healthier lives.

According to the MD, “the event is yet another way of giving back to society and ensuring that the host communities are rewarded for their continuous support and cooperation with the firm.

Also speaking, the chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Hon. Edidiong Joseph Inyang, described the free medical mission by the brewing company as very impactful and timely.

The council chairman pointed out that “no investment in the health sector is too much as the well-being and welfare of the people remain paramount,” urging other firms to emulate the gesture.

Addressing the people, the chief medical director (CMD), of Ima Bridge hospital, Dr Joseph Ekpenyong, highlighted the causes of various ailments such as high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes and many more, and how they can be prevented through healthy living and periodic medical check-ups.

Beneficiaries of the facility, who spoke with journalists, expressed deep-seated gratitude to the company for its kind intervention and urged it to sustain the generosity.

They commended the beverage company for its unwavering dedication to improving healthcare access and community well-being.

One of the octogenarian beneficiaries, Madam Ekaette Etim Okon, said the medical outreach had restored her hope and confidence to keep moving on.
