A coalition of humanitarian organisations, civil society groups, religious leaders, traditional rulers, media practitioners and community health advocates has commended the Kaduna State government for rehabilitating 255 Primary Health Care (PHC) centres in the state.
The coalition, which gave the commendation yesterday during an assessment visit to selected PHC facilities, appreciated the state government for renovating the health centres in all the state’s 23 local government areas.
According to the group, the visit was designed to evaluate the impact of ongoing health sector reforms at the grassroots and to assess how the interventions were improving access to quality healthcare for both rural and urban communities.
Leading the delegation, Pastor Yohanna Buru, national president of the Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation of Nigeria, said the coalition was impressed by the visible transformation in infrastructure, service delivery and the availability of modern medical equipment in the renovated facilities.
He noted that the upgrades would significantly improve healthcare outcomes, especially for women and children, describing the intervention as a major step toward strengthening primary healthcare delivery in the state.
“We have seen remarkable changes in our health centres, including the provision of new medical equipment. These improvements have brought better healthcare services closer to our people, and we are here to express our appreciation to the state government”.
Ambassador Idris Musa, a traditional leader from Tudun Wada, Kaduna State, praised the government for transforming community health centres into modern facilities equipped with laboratories and essential medical tools.
He also commended the recent deployment of 10 ambulances, describing the initiative as a boost to emergency healthcare services across the state.
Responding, the executive secretary of the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board (KSPHCB), Dr. Bello Jamoh Yusuf, thanked the coalition for the visit and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare services.
He disclosed that the state is recruiting over 1,800 healthcare workers to address manpower gaps and has increased salaries for health personnel to motivate the workforce.
Yusuf urged residents to utilise the renovated PHC facilities, assuring them of quality healthcare services delivered by qualified personnel using modern diagnostic equipment.
He also expressed appreciation to civil society, non-governmental, and community-based organisations for their continued support and collaboration throughout 2025.
