The Lehi Social Impact Foundation has extended festive relief to patients at Garki Hospital, Abuja, with the donation of food items and Christmas gift packs as part of its annual outreach to mark the Yuletide.
The outreach, now in its sixth year, focused on hospitalised children and nursing mothers who are unable to celebrate the season with their families.
Babayemi Olaniyan, the convener of the foundation, stated that the initiative aims to support vulnerable patients and alleviate the burden on their families, noting that the foundation visits various hospitals annually to expand its reach.
He said nursing mothers received food items including rice, cooking oil and noodles, while children were presented with Christmas packs to enable them to participate in the festivities.
Olaniyan added that the foundation’s interventions were sustained through voluntary contributions, stressing that the gesture was intended to restore hope and provide emotional support to patients.
The outreach was implemented in partnership with Eilish Consulting, LEHI Attorneys, and Motherland.
Speaking at the event, Pastor Philip Olubakin of the Supernatural Life Church, Abuja, said the outreach aligned with the responsibility of faith-based organisations to support the sick and vulnerable, particularly during festive periods.
The Clinical Director of Garki Hospital, Dr Chimaobi Onyejelam, commended the foundation and its partners for the intervention, stating that the donated items would help alleviate the financial pressure on patients and their families.
Dr Onyejelam noted that, beyond material support, the visit provided encouragement to patients who could not leave the hospital to celebrate Christmas and urged other organisations to remember hospitalised persons during festive seasons.
The hospital management also advised the public to adopt healthy lifestyles, including a balanced diet and regular physical activity, to maintain good health.
