Bayelsa State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security during the Christmas and New Year celebrations following the massive deployment of officers and operational assets across the state.

In a statement yesterday, the police public relations officer, DSP Musa Mohammed, said the deployment covers both land and waterways, noting that the move is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and crime-free festive period for residents and visitors.

According to him, all divisional police officers, tactical units, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams, marine police, intelligence units and special drone teams have been placed on high alert to prevent criminal activities.

He also disclosed that the command is working closely with other security agencies, traditional rulers, youth leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen security before, during and after the Yuletide.

Mohammed reminded residents that the ban on the use of fireworks remains in force, as the Command warned that violators would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
