The Imo State House of Assembly has passed into law the 2026 appropriation bill submitted by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The bill for a law to appropriate N1.4 trillion for the state was given accelerated passage.
The figure excluded the Consolidated Revenue Fund charge of N30 billion.
Leading the debate for its second reading, the majority leader, Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi (Owerri West), recalled that the governor had performed his constitutional obligation by presenting the 2026 appropriation bill tagged, “Budget of Economic breakthrough.”
He said, it therefore behoves on them as legislators to critically look into the proposal and make necessary legislative inputs for effective applications.
Hon Onyemaechi maintained that the capital budget of N1.2 trillion and recurrent expenditure of N238 billion shows that the governor is prepared to fulfil his desires for the development of the state.
