A former speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Mathew Kolawole, has empowered over 500 widows, the elderly and vulnerable people in Kabba-Bunu-Ijumu Federal Constituency.
Kolawole, an All Progressives Congress, (APC) House of Representatives aspirant in the forthcoming 2027 election, however took a swipe at the current representatives in the area, Salman Idris,. describing him as a monumental failure, vowing to sack him in 2027.
Speaking further at the empowerment programme, which he said was initiated 15 years ago, the former speaker noted that the current lawmaker hasn’t met the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
He lamented that at a season when politicians with the heart of the people are at home with their people for Christmas, “he has instead traveled abroad, enjoying himself and watching football matches.”
Kolawole, who noted that he enjoys an organic grassroots support, cited his own efforts as speaker to include payment of school fees of indigent students, medical bills, and providing jobs for his people, saying it has made him the best aspirant to represent the constituency come 2027.
He vowed to win the APC ticket and defeat the current lawmaker, who he said, “got the mandate on a platter of gold”.
