The Adamawa State Government has trained 100 cooperative members on briquette charcoal production to promote entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability and rural development.
The five-day programme, organized by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development, drew participants from the state’s five cooperative zones and focused on converting waste to wealth.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Commissioner, Hon. Hammanjuba Gatugel, urged beneficiaries to apply and replicate the skills in their communities, noting that the initiative aligns with the Fintiri administration’s commitment to inclusive development and its ban on indiscriminate tree felling.
He described briquette charcoal as a cleaner and sustainable alternative energy source and announced that participants would receive start-up kits, while the Ministry would monitor effective use of the equipment.
Officials of the Ministry commended the programme, stressing its role in job creation and improved livelihoods. Beneficiaries, in turn, expressed gratitude to the state government and pledged to put the skills acquired into productive use.
