A survivor of the Essa tanker explosion in Katcha local government area of Niger State, Saratu Mohammed, has given birth to a baby boy.
In September last year, a tanker explosion in Essa along Agaie to Baddegi road claimed several lives.
Saratu was among the victims who suffered high degree burns as a result of the explosion and was transferred to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) for intensive medical treatment from the Bida Federal Medical Center.
It was learnt that during examination she was almost five months pregnant when she suffered the burns but was able to manage and gave birth in the early hours of January 1, 2026.
Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago congratulated Saratu on the safe delivery.
The governor, through his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, said the news of her delivery came with joy and reassurance of God’s mercies and wonders which no man can comprehend.
He said, “The case of Saratu Mohammed is a testament to Allah’s awesomeness, greatness, and that He can do and make all things possible. This child is no doubt a child of destiny and will always remind the parents and everyone of Allah’s mercy and faithfulness.”
The governor also reaffirmed his continued support to her and other surviving victims of the explosion still receiving treatment.
