A survivor of the Essa tanker explosion  in Katcha local government area of Niger State, Saratu Mohammed,  has  given birth to a baby boy.

In September last year, a tanker explosion in Essa  along Agaie to Baddegi road claimed several lives.

Saratu was among the victims who suffered high degree burns as a result of the explosion and was transferred to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) for intensive medical treatment from the Bida Federal Medical Center.

It was learnt that during examination she was almost five months pregnant when she suffered the burns but was able to manage and gave birth in the early hours of January 1, 2026.

Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago congratulated  Saratu on the safe delivery.
