Imo State commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, Rex Anunobi, has urged philanthropists and well-meaning organisations to focus on people-oriented projects that deliver lasting benefits to communities.
Anunobi made the call at the inauguration of a 500KVA 33/0.415KV transformer and a modern solar-powered borehole donated by a philanthropist, Magnus Agara, to the people of Amurie Omanze in Isu local government area of Imo State.
He praised Agara’s philanthropic gesture, noting that such people-focused interventions go beyond the provision of basic amenities to giving communities a renewed outlook and lay a strong foundation for economic and social revitalisation.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Administrative Secretary to Magnus Agara, Abamaji Victor, said the projects directly tackled two of the most pressing challenges facing rural communities—unstable electricity supply and limited access to clean water—thereby setting a transformative tone for the celebrations.
Victor added that the donations were part of activities marking the Magnus Agara Annual Carnival and Birthday Celebration, underscoring Agara’s commitment to sustainable community development.
