Katsina State is set to host the 40th edition of the Inyass National Maulid in 2026, as preparations intensify for the week-long Islamic convention expected to attract millions of participants from Nigeria and abroad.
The announcement was made during a briefing organised by the main planning committee of the Majma’u Ahbab Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass (RTA).
At the event, the chairman of the organising committee, Sheikh Hadi Balarabe, said the 2026 Maulid would be the third time the convention is hosting since its inception in 1986.
He recalled that the last hosting in Katsina was about ten years ago, which attracted over three million participants, adding that the organisers are expecting even larger attendance this time, with participants from more than 15 countries expected to grace the event.
Sheikh Balarabe, explained that the annual Maulid is organised in honour of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass (RTA), who was born in 1900 and passed away in 1975.
He said the gathering provides an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the life, teachings and sacrifices of the renowned Islamic scholar, particularly his contributions to the propagation of Islam and devotion to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
According to him, Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass made remarkable contributions to Islamic scholarship and spiritual development, earning global recognition, with his exemplary character remaining worthy of emulation.
He noted that the vacuum created by the scholar’s passing is yet to be fully filled.
The organising committee chairman disclosed that Friday and Saturday would mark the grand finale of the Maulid, during which thousands of scholars, clerics and followers from across Nigeria and other African countries are expected to converge on Katsina State.
He added that the programme would feature prayers, sermons, preaching sessions and recitations from the Holy Qur’an and other Islamic texts, to be led by invited Islamic scholars and clerics from within and outside the country.
Sheikh Balarabe, called on residents of Katsina State to support the success of the programme by extending hospitality to visitors expected to stay in the state throughout the week-long event, adding that it will boost the social economic sector of the state.
He also assured that adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of participants and residents during the 40th Inyass National Maulid.
