Kebbi State government has expended over N21 billion on basic education infrastructure since Governor Nasir Idris assumed office

It is as part of the sustained efforts to strengthen the education sector and improve teaching and learning environment.

The chairman of Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Sulaiman Khalid, disclosed this at a grand rally organised by teachers from Kebbi South Senatorial Zone in support of Governor Idris at Komo Unity Hall, Zuru.

The event, organised by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, drew thousands of participants from the seven local government areas of the Zone; including teachers, education stakeholders, political leaders, community representatives, and traditional institution delegates.

Professor Khalid highlighted key interventions of Governor Nasir Idris administration in the basic education sector that included the provision of computers and tablets, capacity-building programmes for over 5,000 teachers, perimeter fencing of primary schools, supply of over 50,000 pupils and teachers furniture, construction of mega schools, provision of reading materials, and the construction and reconstruction of primary schools across the state.

He also conveyed the Governor’s appreciation to teachers for their continued support and urged them to sustain cooperation with the present administration, assuring that educators would continue to enjoy the dividends of good governance.

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Bande, also highlighted the Governor’s interventions in education, including teacher recruitment, support for intervention programmes, and the construction and rehabilitation of schools across Kebbi State.
