The chief of staff to Abia State governor, Caleb Ajagba, has urged residents of the state to disregard past leaders who kept the state in bondage for 24 years and are now seeking to return to power again.

Ajagba made the appeal yesterday during an enlarged meeting of Ward 3 stakeholders in Isiala Ngwa North local government area of the state.

He expressed concern that the leaders were bent on returning to power next year to reverse the gains made by Governor  Alex Otti in their absence, urging them to reject their bid.

“The previous administrations failed to fix the state for 24 years, but the Otti-led administration has, within a short period in office, achieved remarkable progress that has remained unparalleled.

“The level of deterioration we met on the ground when we came to office was unprecedented. It was enough to discourage someone who was not prepared for this job,” he noted

The chief of staff, who thanked the stakeholders for their continued support for the administration, assured that he is committed to delivering more democracy dividends in the state.

Contributing to the discussion, the member for Isiala Ngwa North/South federal constituency at the National Assembly, Ginger Onwusibe, lauded Otti for his significant strides and infrastructure development.

‎Other speakers were the commissioners for Works, Otumchere Otti; Power and Public Utilities, Ikechukwu Monday; and Transport, Chimezie Ukaegbu, who cautioned the residents not to listen to the leaders.

‎Similarly, the state chairman of the Labour Party, Nwaeze Oti, appreciated the stakeholders for their large turnout and urged them to continue encouraging people to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards.
