Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hajiya Mariya Mahmoud, has called on All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Abuja to enrol in the party’s nationwide e-registration exercise, declaring it essential for building an inclusive and modern political structure.

Speaking during the flag-off of the exercise at Apo Town Hall in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) on Friday, Mahmoud stated that the initiative transcends mere data collection.

Addressing stakeholders, she expressed delight over the exercise, describing it as a milestone in our party’s commitment to inclusiveness, innovation, and democratic consolidation.

She commended the APC national leadership for launching the initiative, which she said demonstrates the party’s resolve to embrace technology, enhance transparency, and make participation more accessible, particularly for the youths.

“The APC was founded on progressive ideals, emphasising broad-based participation, internal democracy, and responsive governance.

“The e-registration is not merely about increasing numbers but about strengthening our structures, updating our database, and ensuring every member has a voice in shaping our party’s and our nation’s future,” she said.

While highlighting the FCT’s unique role as the seat of government and a cultural melting pot, Mahmoud encouraged all eligible individuals to participate.

“I encourage all eligible voters, men, women, youths, and persons living with disabilities, to register as new members or update their records through this seamless process. Your involvement will strengthen our party and deepen our democracy,” she urged.

She also reaffirmed the party’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing the need for unity and a people-oriented approach.

“A strong party relies on grassroots involvement, and this e-registration is a key step forward,” she said.

Echoing the FCT minister’s sentiments, the minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Zephaniah Jisalo, praised the party’s leadership for the technological push.

He linked the initiative directly to the vision of the presidency, noting, “This platform is designed to capture members digitally across the country, and it aligns perfectly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda to integrate technology into governance and political mobilisation.”

With the registration deadline set for January 30, the FCT State chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman, issued a direct appeal to members.

“I urge all members, both old and new, to visit our designated centres with valid identification to complete their revalidation or fresh registration before the deadline,” he stated.

He revealed that the exercise was in line with the directive of President Tinubu to commence the e-registration of all members across the federation. Usman thanked the party faithful for their large turnout, adding, “While the APC leads, others follow.”
