A 29-year-old forest guard identified as Sunday Markus has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old Isa Hamadu to death.
Sunday was remanded at the Correctional Centre by the Chief Magistrates’ Court I, sitting in Yola, Adamawa State Capital, presided over by Magistrate Lawan Musa.
The defendant, who hails from the Pallam community in Madagali LGA, was remanded following his arraignment by the Adamawa State Police Command.
Arraigning the defendant, the prosecuting police officer, Inspector Hamza Abdullahi, informed the court that the defendant allegedly stabbed Isa Hamadu in the stomach, and that the victim was confirmed dead by the medical doctor at Cottage Hospital, Madagali, when he was rushed for medical attention.
When the prosecutor tendered the First Information Report for reading to the defendant, he pleaded guilty to the allegation.
Thereafter, the prosecutor applied for the case to be adjourned to enable the prosecution to transmit the case file to the DPP for legal advice, given that the offence is capital in nature.
Ruling, Magistrate Lawan granted the application as prayed and ordered the remand of the defendant.
