Taraba State governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has inaugurated members of two key committees, one agency and two commissions to strengthen governance and accelerate development across the state.
Governor Kefas, who performed the inauguration ceremony at the TY Danjuma House, Jalingo, said the institutions were established to improve the livelihood and ensure effective service delivery to the people.
The bodies inaugurated are the Steering Committee of the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture, Science, Technology and Climate Action, Gembu; the Emergency Implementation Committee for Infrastructure and Human Services; the State Sanitation Agency; the Livestock Development Commission, and the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Governor Kefas further said that the inauguration marked a deliberate step toward strengthening governance and delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Taraba State.
He described the appointments as a call to duty and a trust placed in them, and urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them.
According to the governor, the bodies are not ceremonial structures but instruments of change, designed to address critical challenges and improve the lives of citizens.
Governor Kefas, who specifically addressed members of the Livestock Development Commission, said their responsibility was to promote peace and harmony among farming communities and herders.
He stressed that livestock development is key to food security, job creation, and revenue generation of the state.
He tasked the commission to work closely with local communities, traditional rulers, and security agencies to ensure prosperity and prevent conflicts among the people.
On the Emergency Implementation Committee for Infrastructure and Human Services, the governor said its mandate was to fast-track infrastructure development while protecting the human face of governance.
Governor Kefas also charged the leadership of the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture, Science, Technology and Climate Action to make the institution a centre of excellence for knowledge, innovation, and practical solutions, particularly in strengthening climate resilience and preparing the youth for the future.
Speaking on behalf of the inaugurated members, Danladi Baido expressed appreciation to the governor for the appointments, describing them as a huge responsibility.
He assured the governor that the appointees would give their best in the service of the state, and would not disappoint him and their various communities.
