Yobe state Governor Hon. (Dr) Mai Mala Buni, has been conferred the title of ‘Matawallen Gudi’ and he urged parents to be alive to their responsibilities on the moral upbringing of their children.
He stated this on Sunday in Damaturu when councillors of the Gudi Emirate council conveyed a letter of the Chieftaincy title of ‘Matawallen Gudi’ to the governor.
Buni said, “As parents, elders and traditional authorities, we all have an obligation to the moral upbringing of our youth.
He added, “The youth are future leaders who deserve responsible mentoring to produce good future leaders and followers for a sane society”, he said.
Governor Buni advised the youth against associating with drugs to have a prosperous future.
He assured that he would contribute to the development of the Emirate and its people.
The leader of the delegation and Waziri Gudi, Alhaji Hussaini Masaya, said the Gudi Emirate council found Gov. Buni worthy of the office of “Matawallen Gudi” and appointed him to serve in that capacity.
The office of the Matawallen Gudi qualifies Gov Buni as one of the kingmakers of Gudi Emirate.
He commended the Governor for accepting the title and for serving the Emirate in that capacity.
