Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 6 suspected armed robbers allegedly responsible for violent attacks and a series of robberies in Giade local government area.
According to the command, it received information on January 9, 2026, from a good Samaritan that a gang of seven armed men with cutlasses, knives, sticks and a dane gun, attacked two members of the Nigerian Forestry and Security Services attached to the Giade Emirate Council.
The victims, Mohammed Musa, also known as Baushe, a 40-year-old, and Auwal Maidawa, both of Giade local government area, sustained injuries during the attack and were robbed and dispossessed of their valuables, including one dane gun, a torchlight and a mobile phone.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib yesterday, he said that upon receipt of the report, detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Giade Division, CSP Bello Yusuf Kumo, swiftly mobilised and launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
Nafiu added that the operation led to the arrest of one Aminu Abdulkadir, a 22-year-old resident of Unguwar Guru. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and implicated five other accomplices, all of whom have been arrested.
Those arrested include Habu Musa, also known as Habule, a 24-year-old; Adamu Samaila, alias Aliyos, a 24-year-old; Yusuf Sabo, alias Isibu Dan Tsure, also a 24-year-old; Abdullahi Garba, alias Audu Guntu, 25; and one Dan Azare, all residents of Giade town.
Police preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had been terrorising Giade town, criminally conspiring to break into various houses and rob unsuspecting residents of their belongings.
Items stolen include 13 mobile phones, 2 wrappers, 1 lace fabric, 1 MP3 player and 1 Bluetooth device, with an estimated total value of N1.2 million.
The statement further said items recovered from the suspects include 2 red Boxer Motorcycles, sharp knives, a saw used for house and shop breaking, 4 ATM cards, 5 motorcycle ignition switches with keys, and 3 capacitors.
SP Nafiu Habib added that investigation is ongoing, while the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the suspects be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation.
In a related development, on January 17, 2026, operatives of the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Bauchi, led by the DPO, CSP Hassan A. Musa, intercepted a tricycle during a routine confidence-building patrol.
The tricycle was being driven by one Isiyaka Mohammed, who failed to give a satisfactory explanation regarding its ownership.
Further intelligence-led investigation revealed that the tricycle had been reported stolen about two months earlier by its owner, Babangida Mohammed, around the Kobi area of Bauchi metropolis.
Police discovered that the tricycle, originally green in colour, had been repainted yellow in an attempt to conceal its identity.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has ordered an in-depth investigation to identify and arrest other accomplices connected to the theft.
