In an effort to boost internal security, the Taraba State Government has donated 100 motorbikes and 10 Hilux vehicles to the Taraba Marshall to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
Governor Agbu Kefas, who made the donation to the state security outfit, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to securing the state from crime and criminality.
The motorbikes and Hilux vehicles, which were handed over to the state security agency during an elaborate ceremony for the security assets aimed at Jalingo, were intended to strengthen grassroots policing and enhance the fight against crime in the state.
The Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Information, Hon. Nelson Lens, who represented Governor Kefas, said the vehicles and motorbikes were procured to enhance the Marshal’s operational capacity to respond swiftly to security challenges, particularly at the community level.
He recalled how, upon assuming office, insecurity was a major concern, as residents could hardly sleep with their eyes closed.
He noted that sustained efforts by the government and security agencies have led to a significant improvement in the security situation, making Taraba a safer place for its citizens.
The governor, therefore, commended the various security agencies operating in the state for their dedication and professionalism.
He also appreciated the residents for their cooperation and for providing information to security operatives in a timely manner.
The Commandant of the Taraba Marshal, a retired Commissioner of Police, Agyole Abeh, lauded Governor Kefas for creating a conducive security environment and for his consistent support to the outfit.
CP Abeh then described the procurement of the motorbikes and patrol vehicles as a demonstration of the governor’s resolve to strengthen the state’s security architecture.
He disclosed that the vehicles would be deployed across the 16 local government areas to enhance surveillance and ensure effective security coverage at the grassroots.
