The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Yola Diocese, has honoured the first lady of Adamawa State, Hajiya Dr. Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, with an award of excellence at its 2026 annual convention held in Yola.
The award was presented in recognition of her humanitarian activities and support for widows, orphans, women and other vulnerable groups within the church and across Adamawa State.
Speaking at the event, the Bishop of LCCN Yola Diocese, Rt. Rev. Theophilus S. Shadrach, said the first lady’s contributions to social welfare and community development had positively impacted members of the church, noting that her efforts spread across religious boundaries.
He added that her support had complemented the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, particularly in areas relating to social care and community welfare.
The chairman of the award committee, Rev. Stephen Mafa Tarfa, said the church recognised individuals whose actions continue to promote unity, development and service to humanity.
Hajiya Lami Fintiri was represented at the event by the commissioner for women affairs and social development, Hon. Neido G. Kofulto, who said the first lady was unavoidably absent due to official engagements outside Yola.
According to her, the first lady expressed appreciation to the church for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue supporting women, children and the less privileged.
