A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Sentinel Oasis for Love and Care Initiative (SOLCI), has entered into a strategic partnership with J-Town Ambassadors (JTA) to strengthen community sanitation in Jos North local government area of Plateau State.
The partnership, formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is designed to advance community sanitation, environmental cleanliness and civic responsibility across Jos, Plateau State.
The ceremony was held at the J-Town Ambassadors Headquarters in Jos at the weekend.
Through this collaboration, SOLCI brings its grounding in servant leadership training, youth engagement, mentorship, and community mobilization, while J-Town Ambassadors brings its civic networks, local influence, and advocacy platforms aimed at unity, tolerance, and responsible citizenship.
Our correspondent reports that, together, both organizations seek to shift sanitation work from occasional clean-ups toward lasting community ownership, pride, and collective action.
The trustee/executive director of SOLCI, Barr. Haroun Audu in his opening remarks said SOLCI’s mission is to develop servant leaders whose service fosters meaningful social change.
He explained that the MoU reflects SOLCIs conviction that lasting impact happens when young people are empowered to serve their communities with integrity, compassion, and accountability.
Also speaking at the event, the secretary of the SOLCI Board of Trustees and a member of J-Town Ambassadors, Mrs Odessa Chuwang, described JTA as a group committed to bridging divides, nurturing unity, and giving back to the city that shaped its members.
She expressed excitement about the collaborative effort and its potential to deepen community engagement and civic awareness.
Under the terms of the MoU, SOLCI will lead implementation through servant-leadership guided youth mobilization, community engagement, and sanitation activities, while J-Town Ambassadors will provide strategic support, advocacy, and visibility for the initiative.
The MoU will run for an initial period of one year, with activities commencing immediately.
Goodwill messages were received from the Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) and other stakeholders reaffirming their readiness to support this initiative and work with both organizations to ensure the sanitation efforts succeed at large scale.
