South Africa Premier Soccer League side Chippa United have officially announced the departure of Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, following a mutual agreement between the club and the goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper, who has become a household name after his stellar performances for the Super Eagles and consistently impressive displays in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), leaves the Eastern Cape outfit after a highly impactful tenure.

Nwabali’s exit is set to ignite an immediate and intense transfer battle, with South African giants Kaizer Chiefs expected to lead the chase. Amakhosi have been long-term admirers, having meticulously tracked the Nigerian’s progress over the past two seasons. The Soweto club has been actively seeking a reliable number one to address inconsistencies within their current goalkeeping department, and Nwabali’s sudden availability could prove to be the perfect solution they have desperately sought. Chiefs were previously linked with a move for Nwabali during the 2024/25 campaign, but Chippa successfully fended off interest at that time, retaining their prized asset.

Chippa United expressed their sincere gratitude for Nwabali’s significant contributions during his time at the club, acknowledging his unwavering professionalism and the considerable impact he made both on and off the pitch. In an official statement, the club remarked, “Stanley has been an important part of our journey, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter.” His consistent command of the penalty area and crucial saves were pivotal for the Chilli Boys, and his departure undoubtedly leaves a substantial void to fill between the posts.

Nwabali’s burgeoning reputation extends far beyond the borders of South Africa. Reports indicate that several prominent European clubs, alongside Moroccan powerhouse Raja Casablanca, have also been closely monitoring his situation. His impressive displays on the international stage, particularly during his time with the Super Eagles, have elevated his profile considerably, making him a highly sought-after commodity in the global transfer market.
