Jigawa State government has appointed the Emir of Dutse, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Hamim Muhammad Nuhu Sanusi, as the State Amirul Hajj and leader of the official delegation for the 2026 Hajj.
The appointment was confirmed in a letter by the secretary to the state government, Malam Bala Ibrahim.
According to the letter, other members of the Hajj delegation include Malam Umaru Nasarawa, Alhaji Kabiru Ali, Kachallan Dutse, a representative of the Emir of Gumel, and Imam Nura Salisu Abubakar, Chief Imam of Kazaure Central Mosque.
In a statement, the SSG said the Hajj team members were appointed based on merit and the confidence the state government has in their ability to handle such an important assignment.
He noted that the government expects the team to help organise and conduct a hitch-free Hajj exercise, ensuring that the state’s pilgrims enjoy their journey to the holy land with a full enabling environment for performing their spiritual obligations.
“To achieve this, the team is also expected to collaborate with relevant state and federal agencies, as well as officials of Saudi Arabia, to ensure full compliance with the rules and regulations governing this significant spiritual journey,” he added.
The director-general of the Jigawa State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Ahmed Labbo, described the Emir’s appointment as well-deserved and pledged the board’s full collaboration with him and his team to ensure a successful Hajj.
He further stated that 1,806 Hajj seats have been allocated to the state by the National Hajj Commission, which have all been fully paid for.
