The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Bauchi State Chapter, has expressed profound sympathy to journalists who were involved in a road accident while on  an official assignment to cover  the  inauguration  of projects by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Bauchi State.

In a press release issued yesterday, the Chairman of the Institute, Alhaji Mohammad Rabiu Wada, described the incident as deeply saddening, noting that it occurred in the line of professional duty.

“We acknowledge the courage, resilience, and dedication of journalists who continue to serve the public interest with commitment, often under challenging and risky conditions. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured journalists, and we sincerely pray for their speedy and complete recovery,” the NIPR stated.

The statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer, Tajudeen Taiwo Akintunde, extended the Institute’s solidarity to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, led by its Chairman, Comrade Umar Saidu; the Correspondents’ Chapel; the affected media organisations, Channels Television, AIT, NTA, ARISE, BATV, BRC, among others, as well as the families and colleagues of those affected.

The NIPR also commended the prompt and compassionate response of the NEDC, Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, as well as the coordinated intervention of the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, and the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Usman Shehu Usman, whose timely actions ensured that the injured journalists received adequate and prompt medical attention.

“At this difficult moment, the NIPR Bauchi State Chapter stands firmly with the media community,” the statement added.

“May this unfortunate incident strengthen our collective resolve to promote safety, solidarity, and mutual support among all communication and media professionals,” the statement concluded.
