An Anambra State-based education entrepreneur, Mr Emeka Ejeziem, has unveiled an examination preparation application, “Prep50,” which he designed to help Nigerian students improve their performance in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) and post-UTME tests, with some candidates reportedly scoring above 350 in JAMB.
In an interview with journalists, Ejeziem explained that the development of “Prep50” followed years of interaction with candidates during the organisation’s operation as a private JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre in Onitsha.
He said the initiative began in 2014 and gained momentum in 2016 when JAMB adopted CBT nationwide, exposing widespread challenges among candidates, including poor computer navigation skills, weak time management and inadequate understanding of examination interfaces.
According to him, many candidates struggled to complete the 180-question UTME within the stipulated time, particularly in science and commercial subject combinations such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics.
Ejeziem added that further assessments revealed deeper structural learning gaps, including reliance on poorly arranged past questions and inconsistencies between available textbooks and the JAMB syllabus.
To address these challenges, he said the organisation adopted a topic-by-topic learning model, restructuring past questions dating back to 1978 into subject-specific topics aligned with the JAMB syllabus.
He noted that the model later evolved beyond printed study materials into a mobile application and online tutorial platform designed to simulate real CBT examinations and provide performance-tracking tools for students.
Ejeziem disclosed that “Prep50” is currently integrating an Artificial Intelligence-powered learning feature built on UTME and SSCE data spanning several decades to create personalised study plans for candidates.
He stated that the platform also engages experienced Nigerian teachers, including winners of the Maltina Teacher of the Year Award, to support students requiring additional academic guidance.
Highlighting performance outcomes, Ejeziem cited candidates such as Azoyenime Samuel Chukwuemeka, who reportedly scored 372 in the 2025 UTME and David Kikisoko, who scored 371, attributing their performance to the use of “Prep50” materials.
