CAC Signs Agreement With Google: AI to Handle 10,000 Daily Business Filings

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has signed a Letter of Collaboration with Google to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) capable of handling its surging 10,000 daily business registration requests, strengthening Nigeria’s business infrastructure and service delivery.
CAC’s registrar general and chief executive officer, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, announced the deal at the opening of the Commission’s 35th anniversary celebration.

Magaji called it a strategic step to enhance the ease of doing business through advanced technology.“
He explained that the adoption of AI had become unavoidable for the Commission, given the sharp rise in business registration volumes and customer engagement in recent years.
“Let me state clearly: the deployment of AI at CAC is not optional; it is necessary,” he said.

According to him, CAC now receives close to 10,000 business registration requests daily, compared to only hundreds in previous years, driven by tax reforms, the monetisation of social media and digital businesses, and government policies promoting the formalisation of informal enterprises.
He added that the Commission’s complaint management system, comprising emails and call centres, currently handles an average of 5,000 inquiries every day, a workload, he said could no longer be managed efficiently through manual processes alone.

“Only AI can effectively complement human capacity with the required speed, accuracy, and precision,” the registrar-general said.
He noted that Google would bring global technological expertise to strengthen CAC’s systems, enhance portal performance, and support the Commission’s transition to an AI-driven service architecture.
The CAC boss acknowledged that the transition to an AI-powered portal in 2025, had been challenging, with temporary disruptions to productivity and service delivery in some areas, but said the reforms were necessary to achieve world-class standards.

“Transformational change is never easy,” he said, while thanking stakeholders and customers for their patience and confidence during the transition period.
As part of the AI-driven reforms, the CAC also unveiled a newly- relaunched website
featuring two new tools: an AI Lawyer that provides instant responses to questions on CAC laws, rules and procedures, and an AI Name Generator that enables users to generate and reserve scalable business names directly on the platform.
The registrar-general said the partnership with Google and the broader deployment of AI underscore the Commission’s commitment to efficiency, transparency and global best practices as it marks 35 years of operation.
