President Bola Tinubu is expected in Kano on Monday to formally receive Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a grand reception scheduled to hold at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and several APC governors are also billed to attend the event, which party leaders have described as a major political gathering aimed at consolidating the party’s influence in the North-West region.

Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, said the reception would symbolically and formally welcome Governor Yusuf into the ruling party. He described the development as a significant milestone for the APC in Kano, a state widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s key political strongholds.

According to Abbas, extensive preparations have been concluded to ensure a hitch-free ceremony, with multiple committees inaugurated to coordinate security, logistics and mobilisation.

He disclosed that a 15-member Security Committee, chaired by Col. Umar Malami, with the Director-General of Special Services serving as secretary, will oversee security arrangements for the event.

A 16-member Venue Committee, headed by Hon. Bala Mohd Gwagwarwa, with Engr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje as secretary, has been tasked with managing facilities and arrangements at the stadium.

Media and public engagement will be handled by a 15-member Publicity Committee chaired by Hon. Muhammad Garba, while the Health Emergency and Sanitation Committee, led by Dr. Abubakar Labaran, will coordinate medical and emergency services.

In addition, the Protocol Committee, chaired by Hon. Abdullahi Rogo, will manage reception formalities for dignitaries expected at the event.

To ensure a large turnout, the party has also constituted a 20-member Mobilisation Committee headed by Hon. Mohd Bello Butu-Butu.

Party officials say the reception is expected to draw top political figures and supporters from across the region, marking a significant moment in Kano’s political landscape.
