American singer and actress Miley Cyrus is set to reflect on the cultural impact of her breakout Disney Channel series, Hannah Montana, in a new 20th-anniversary special premiering on Disney+ on March 24.
The sitcom, which aired from 2006 to 2011, followed Miley Stewart, a teenager living a double life as a pop star, and became one of Disney’s most influential teen shows.
The original series also featured her real-life father, Billy Ray Cyrus, as her on-screen dad, alongside actor Jason Earles.
In a statement announcing the project, Cyrus described the special as a tribute to the fans who supported her journey over two decades, noting that the character of Hannah Montana remains an integral part of her personal and professional identity.
Hosted by Alex Cooper, the programme promises behind-the-scenes insights into the making of the series, including unseen archival footage and conversations about how the show shaped a generation of young viewers.
Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said the anniversary event aims to celebrate the franchise’s legacy while highlighting its message of self-expression and ambition, positioning the special as both a nostalgic look back and a celebration of its lasting influence on pop culture.
