In an exhilarating UEFA Champions League playoff match, Club Brugge and Atletico Madrid played to a dramatic 3-3 draw at the Jan Breydel Stadium on February 18, 2026.

The match showcased the talents of Nigerian duo Raphael Onyedika and Ademola Lookman, both of whom found the back of the net in a rollercoaster encounter.

Atletico Madrid took an early lead in the 8th minute when Julián Álvarez converted a penalty, putting them ahead 1-0. The Spanish side continued to dominate, and just before halftime, Ademola Lookman doubled their advantage, scoring in the 45+4 minute after a well-executed play involving Antoine Griezmann.

However, Club Brugge made a strong comeback in the second half. Just three minutes after the restart, Raphael Onyedika, who had been a constant threat throughout the match, pulled one back for the home side in the 51st minute, with a clinical finish following a setup by N. Tresoldi.

The momentum shifted further in favor of Club Bruges in the 61st minute when N. Tresoldi scored the equalizer, leveling the match at 2-2.

The drama continued as Atletico Madrid regained the lead in the 79th minute through an unfortunate own goal from Jhojan Ordóñez. But Onyedika, proving to be the hero for Brugge, struck again in the 90th minute, with an assist from Christos Tzolis, to secure a dramatic 3-3 draw for his side. The midfielder’s late equaliser ensures the tie remains finely poised ahead of the second leg.

The draw leaves both clubs with hopes alive for qualification as they head into the second leg of the playoff. Fans will be eagerly awaiting the return fixture, especially to see if Onyedika and Lookman can replicate their scoring feats.
