The Chief of Operations at the Naval Headquarters (NHQ), Rear Admiral Musa Katagum, has died following a brief illness.
The Naval Spokesman, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, in a statement, confirmed his death following a protracted illness, adding that he has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
He said the senior officer died in Egypt, where he was receiving medical care.
He said Rear Admiral Musa Bello Katagum, until his demise, served at the Naval Headquarters, where his invaluable contributions were instrumental to the operational successes of the Nigerian Navy in recent times.
He said the senior military officer died while receiving medical care in Egypt.
He described Rear Admiral Katagum as a dedicated and highly respected senior officer whose career was marked by exceptional professionalism, commitment to duty and invaluable contributions to naval operations and national security.
“Throughout his distinguished service in the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Katagum demonstrated exemplary leadership, strategic insight, and unwavering loyalty to the ideals and mission of the Nigerian Navy. His legacy will remain a source of inspiration to all personnel across the Services.
The Nigerian Navy extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and associates during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace,” he said
