The Osun State House of Assembly has passed a bill amending certain provisions of the state’s local government law.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill, titled ‘Osun State Local Government Amendment No. 2 Bill, 2026’, was approved after its third reading during the Assembly’s plenary session held in Osogbo on Monday.
Earlier in the session, the chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Lawal Bamidele, presented the committee’s report on the bill and outlined its recommendations.
Following the presentation, the Speaker of the Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, called for the adoption of the report, a motion which was moved by the Majority Leader, Babajide Adewumi. Adewumi also moved the motion for the third reading of the bill, which was subsequently passed by the House.
NAN reports that the amendment seeks to review the Osun State Local Government Law, Cap 72, Vol. IV, Laws of Osun State 2002, along with other related provisions.
The House thereafter adjourned its sitting to March 2.
