FCT Polls: ADC AMAC Candidate Rejects Results, Alleges Massive Irregularities

The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Saturday’s chairmanship election in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dr. Moses Paul, has rejected the outcome of the poll, alleging widespread irregularities and misconduct.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, Dr. Paul accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of disregarding the will of the people, insisting that the declared results did not reflect the true mandate of voters.

The election, held across the nation’s capital in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), witnessed what the ADC candidate described as a surge in civic participation from residents in communities including Karshi, Wuse, Nyanya, Gui, Gwagwa and Kabusa.

While maintaining that his movement was built on conviction and popular support, Dr. Paul strongly condemned the announced results, claiming they were marred by irregularities.

He alleged incidents of movement restrictions through the imposition of a curfew, alteration and mutilation of polling unit results, voter suppression caused by the late arrival of election materials in key areas, and widespread vote buying across several wards.

The ADC candidate further claimed that party members were intimidated and attacked by security agencies during the electoral process.

He also referenced the reported death of Musa Abubakar at a polling unit in Gwagwa, alleging it occurred amid attempts to resist result manipulation.

“These actions undermine the integrity of the electoral process and the confidence of the people in our democracy,” he stated.

Despite rejecting the outcome, Dr. Paul reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles and to the residents who supported his candidacy.

He described the election as more than a contest for office, calling it a “declaration of dignity” by citizens determined to shape their future.

He expressed appreciation to voters, party supporters, volunteers and the leadership of the ADC for their backing throughout the campaign, adding that the movement he represents would continue beyond the election.

“This is not the end of our journey. It is the beginning of a permanent awakening,” he said, pledging continued engagement with the people of AMAC.

End.
