In an effort to strengthen digital governance and modernize public service delivery, the Gombe State Information Technology and Digital Economy Commission ( GOSIDEC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, on Monday, organized a high-level capacity-building workshop on IT Infrastructure Asset Management and e-Governance Migration.

The workshop, held at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Zonal Office in Gombe, was attended by key stakeholders and leaders driving the state’s digital transformation agenda.

Participants included the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa; the Director-General of GOSIDEC, Dr. Al-Amin Umar Barambu; the IDICE Focal Person, Saifullah Waziri; as well as senior technical officers and ICT professionals drawn from critical Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) across the state.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa described the workshop as timely and impactful, noting that it represents a significant milestone in Gombe State’s journey towards becoming a digitally enabled, innovation-driven, and service-oriented government.

He emphasized that through sustained investments in ICT infrastructure, human capital development, and robust digital governance frameworks, the Gombe State Government is strategically positioning itself as a pacesetter in technology-driven governance in Nigeria.

“With deliberate and sustained investments in digital infrastructure and capacity development, we are laying a solid foundation for a smarter, more connected and more prosperous future for our people,” Prof. Garkuwa stated.

In his remarks, the Director-General of GOSIDEC, Dr. Al-Amin Umar Barambu, stressed that the workshop was designed to enhance technical capacity, promote global best practices in IT asset management and accelerate the migration of government services to secure, efficient and citizen-centric e-Governance platforms.

He noted that the initiative is in line with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s vision of deploying technology as a catalyst for transparency, efficiency, accountability and inclusive development.

The workshop featured expert-led sessions on modern IT infrastructure management, data security, system integration and digital service delivery, equipping participants with practical tools and knowledge to optimize existing digital assets and implement sustainable technology solutions across government institutions.
