The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum has called on Nigerians to sustain their confidence in the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, following what it described as the orderly and credible conduct of the recent Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Mallam Kabiru Yusuf, the group commended Prof. Amupitan’s stewardship of the Commission, stating that the polls reflected enhanced coordination, openness, and firm compliance with constitutional and electoral guidelines.

The forum noted that the smooth voting process across polling units, coupled with the peaceful atmosphere that prevailed throughout the exercise, underscored the Commission’s administrative efficiency and institutional strength.

According to the group, the recent FCT Area Council elections marked a constructive step in Nigeria’s democratic journey and demonstrate INEC’s ability to deliver credible outcomes when there is collective commitment from political actors and other stakeholders.

The Arewa Youths further stressed that preserving public confidence in the electoral body is essential for deepening democratic governance and guaranteeing that future elections faithfully mirror the will of the electorate.
