Strengthen Electoral Process Before 2027, Cleric Tells Federal Government

The Nigerian government has been asked to create a level playing ground for all during the 2027 general election.

The apostolic lead of the Revival House of Glory International Church (RHOGIC), Apostle Goodheart Obi Ekwueme, at the 2026 “Revival Is Here Again” International Conference (RIHA-IC 2026), said judicial and legislative frameworks need to be strengthened to ensure credible elections.

Apostle Ekwueme, who spoke during the conference with the theme Jesus Christ

My Obsession said the choice of the theme was divine, describing the conference as the most important programme of the church for the year.

He said, “The truth is, until our legal framework is strengthened, judicial and legislative, the electoral process becomes very questionable and difficult for it to be truly free and fair. And I believe Nigerians are really interested in voting if they have a sense of assurance that their votes are going to count.

“If we are going into the 2027 election, some things have to change for people to have confidence in the process.

“For example, in the last local government election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), there was voter apathy. There was a very low turn-out, and the reasons are not far-fetched, people are not so sure if their votes will be counted.

“So, I really want to encourage the government of the day to create a level playing field for everyone to go into the game.”

He said the conference is divine and the most important programme of the church for the year.

According to him, the programme gives people more opportunities to connect with their maker, especially “in our country today where we are faced with numerous challenges.

Those who don’t know and have God will struggle more than those who know and have God on their side.

“In these trying times in our country, those who know God will do better than those who don’t know God.

‘Jesus Christ My Obsession’ as the theme of this conference is very important to me. It is a theme that came to my mind many months ago. The whole idea is to focus and refocus on the person of Jesus Christ. He is our Lord and Saviour, and I believe everyone should get connected to Him and everything will fall in place.”
