The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum has passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Chairman of the National Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, commending what it described as a “remarkable transformation” in Nigeria’s revenue generation drive.
In a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Mallam Kabiru Yusuf, the group said the revenue performance under Adedeji’s leadership reflects competence, transparency and alignment with the fiscal objectives of President Bola Tinubu.
The commendation followed Adedeji’s recent disclosure before a committee of the House of Representatives that the Service surpassed its 2025 revenue target of ₦25.2 trillion, posting a total collection of ₦28.23 trillion, exceeding projections by about ₦3 trillion.
Describing the development as “a milestone in Nigeria’s non-oil revenue mobilisation,” the Arewa youths said the 12 per cent increase above target demonstrates improved efficiency in tax administration.
“The outstanding revenue performance recorded by the NRS under Mr. Adedeji’s leadership is a clear testament to strategic reforms, transparency, and accountability in the system,” Yusuf said.
“Exceeding the ₦25.2 trillion target by over ₦3 trillion shows that leakages are being blocked and compliance mechanisms strengthened without imposing unnecessary hardship on taxpayers.”
The group noted that the achievement was in sync with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises fiscal reforms, diversification of revenue sources, and reduction of Nigeria’s reliance on oil earnings.
“This progress aligns squarely with President Tinubu’s commitment to expanding the nation’s revenue base and ensuring sustainable funding for infrastructure, social services and other development priorities,” the statement added.
The forum also urged stakeholders across the country including state governments, private sector operators and taxpayers to support ongoing reforms in the tax administration system.
“Sustained collaboration is critical to maintaining this momentum. Increased internally generated revenue remains key to national growth and economic stability,” Yusuf stated.
Reaffirming its confidence in Adedeji’s leadership, the group expressed optimism that the NRS would consolidate on the gains recorded so far and continue to raise the bar in revenue performance in the years ahead.
