Arsenal are poised to host Chelsea in a pivotal Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium this Sunday, 1st March 2026. The Gunners are determined to maintain their position at the summit of the league table as they welcome the Blues for another highly anticipated London derby.
Following frustrating back-to-back draws against Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers, which saw them drop four crucial points, Arsenal emphatically returned to winning ways last weekend with a commanding 4-1 victory over North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur. Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for Mikel Arteta’s side just after the half-hour mark, only for Randal Kolo Muani to restore parity for Spurs two minutes later. However, the second half belonged entirely to Arsenal, with another goal from Eze alongside a Viktor Gyokeres brace securing the win. This result maintained their five-point advantage over Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
Chelsea have experienced a slight upturn in fortunes since the appointment of Liam Rosenior on a long-term deal, following Enzo Maresca’s dismissal in January. Rosenior, who remains undefeated in the league since taking charge, has only suffered two defeats, both of which came against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final double-header. The Blues, however, squandered an early lead in their clash against Burnley last weekend. Joao Pedro had given the Club World Cup champions the lead in the fourth minute, only for them to be pegged back by the Clarets courtesy of Zian Flemming’s headed equaliser in the 93rd minute.
In their 211 meetings, Arsenal hold the historical edge over Chelsea with 86 victories to 64, while 61 matches have ended in draws. Arteta’s table-toppers are currently enjoying a 10-match unbeaten streak against Chelsea, whose last victory against them was a comprehensive 2-0 win at the Emirates in the 2021/22 season, with Romelu Lukaku and Reece James netting in the first half.
