The University of Jos Consultancy Services, Jinkai Aid Initiative in collaboration with Rotary Club of Jos South and Calgary North Canada, has organised an intensive training programme designed for 14 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to return home with practical skills for rebuilding their communities.
The beneficiaries are from Bassa, Mangu, Riyom and Bokkos LGAs of Plateau State.
The week-long capacity-building initiative focused on the production of compressed stabilised earth bricks, an affordable and environmentally sustainable construction method suitable for local conditions.
The managing director of the UNIJOS consultancy, Hauwa Temine while speaking at the event described the partnership as consistent with its mandate.
“UniJos Consultancy supports value addition, education and training in areas of expertise. When we were approached to train the artisans and guide them on forming cooperatives, it was more than a pleasure for us,” Temine said.
