Infrastructure, Economic Reforms Key To Tinubu’s Re-election – Oyetola

The minister of marine and blue conomy, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola, has explained that President Bola Tinubu’s sustained focus on infrastructure and economic reforms informed the decision of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to endorse him for a second term in 2027.

Oyetola, who is also the APC leader in Osun State, said ongoing investments in roads, rail, ports and energy reflect a deliberate strategy by the Tinubu administration to reposition Nigeria for long-term growth and national competitiveness.

It will be recalled that on February 14, 2026, Oyetola led the Osun APC to formally endorse President Tinubu for a second term at a grand reception held at Freedom Park, Osogbo. The event attracted a large crowd of party stalwarts and supporters and also served as a reception for prominent lawmakers and their supporters who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser, Dr Bolaji Akinola, the minister said the endorsement was anchored on “performance, courage and a clear vision for Nigeria’s future.”

According to him, President Tinubu took difficult but necessary decisions at the onset of his administration to steer the nation’s economy away from the brink of collapse.

Dr Oyetola highlighted key reforms introduced by the President, including bold fiscal and monetary measures aimed at stabilising the economy, attracting foreign investment and restoring confidence in Nigeria’s financial system.

He noted that the policies are already yielding results, citing improved revenue generation and enhanced transparency in public finance management.

He further stated that the administration’s drive to expand critical sectors of the economy is creating new avenues for job creation and sustainable growth.

On social welfare, the minister commended the President’s targeted intervention programmes, student loan initiatives and support for small and medium-sized enterprises, describing them as evidence of a reform-driven yet compassionate government.

Security, he added, remains a top priority under Tinubu’s leadership, with strengthened coordination among security agencies and increased support for law enforcement to enhance national stability.

Oyetola described President Tinubu as a seasoned administrator with a proven track record of transformative leadership, recalling his achievements as former governor of Lagos State and his longstanding commitment to progressive politics.

He stressed that continuity is critical at this stage of Nigeria’s development, arguing that a second term would enable the President to consolidate ongoing reforms, complete major infrastructure projects and fully stabilise the economy.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated courage, capacity and commitment to reposition Nigeria. What he needs now is time to complete the good job he has started,” Oyetola said.
He also expressed confidence that the APC gubernatorial candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will emerge victorious in the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
