Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has assured his supporters and Benue people of his determination to bring Benue people out of “slavery”, abject poverty as well as deplorable economy and insecurity.
Alia who was reacting to the judgement of the Federal High Court presided over by Justice Hassan Dikko described the judgement as victory for the APC and Benue, and applauded the Nigerian justice system for delivering a fair judgement.
According to the APC candidate, the judgement by no means should divide the party, or divide those who feel aggrieved, but rather a uniting force, and a bridge builder.
“I am using this opportunity to invite all our aggrieved members to come back so that together we can rebuild our party for victory come 2023.
“Moments like this are in full length a total expression of our deep democracy. I feel they should understand not just by perception but by position, that democracy is unifying, democracy is carrying everybody along, democracy is letting everybody understand not the subjective interest but the objective interest,” he said.
In his reaction, the APC legal adviser, Barr. Fidelis Bemsen Mnyim, who described the judgement as a victory for the party, said, “I am happy that the pronouncement by the court that the election that produced Rev Fr. Alia as the gubernatorial candidate of the APC come 2023 is valid, free, fair and credible which has also put to rest the speculations on social media that the APC primary was a yahoo-yahoo one.”
The Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi had dismissed the suit filed by APC gubernatorial aspirant, Prof. Terhemba Shija against the party.
