The leadership of the South West of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) in the early hours of yesterday staged a peaceful protest denouncing invasion and killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khanemei, by U.S and Israel strikes.

Recall that on Sunday, members of IMN had staged protests over the war and the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in Kano, Niger, Sokoto, Gombe and Bauchi states.

The protest was staged in Maryland axis of Lagos but our reporter cannot confirm possible spread to other areas.

The protest spread fears among the public as the protesters shouted strong, provocative words calling for global condemnation of American intervention in sovereign nations.

Some IMN leaders who spoke to LEADERSHIP called on the Nigerian government to reject the presence of US troops in Nigeria.

Muftau Zakariya, South West coordinator of IMN, while speaking to LEADERSHIP said the protest is to register their concerns over sustained Invasion of sovereign nations by the Trump administration citing recent instances of Venezuela’s Invasion and seizing of the country’s president and energy infrastructure.

Another leader of the movement, Muhammadu Bashir, said the protest is a means of registering their concerns over the killing of Iranian leaders.

He said the protest would remain peaceful but will be sustained across the region.

Motorists and commuters movements were briefly disrupted as there was no Police presence to either stop the protesters or control the vehicular traffic flow in the area.

In a related development, the Kaduna State Police Command has deployed massive security operatives across the state to tackle any security threat or protest following killing of Iran Supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli attack.

Our correspondent reports that security operatives were placed on high alert apparently to counter any protest.

Speaking with our correspondent on telephone, Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, advised residents who were planning to protest to shelve their plan.

According to the police, “We have deployed massive security across the state and we hope nothing of such protest happens in Kaduna”

Our correspondent gathered that some members of Nigeria’s Shi’ites Islamic Movement were planning protests but security forces did not allow such to happen.
