Florida A&M University Marching Band is celebrating the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, months ahead of the biopic release on April 24.
Lionsgate, the producer of ‘Michael’, released a minute and fifty seconds 4k video of the marching band live performance of Michael Jackson’s disco song, “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough’. The band, with its shiny green-white-red decked marching line of drummers, trumpeters, majors, and tuba-bassists, rocked out to the beat, creating an electrifying thrill not unlike listening to Michael Jackson’s video version, but unique in its own way.
Titled MICHAEL Celebrates: Legacy, Artistry, Culture, the song announces the biopic ‘Michael’, which is a cinematic portrayal of the life and legacy of one of the world’s most influential artistes.
Similarly, the Jackson State University Marching Band in Jackson, Mississippi, aka the sonic boom of the south, also did a live performance of ‘Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough’. The navy-aquamarine and white decked band, and silver swathed majorettes gave an exhilarating performance with various line arrangements that spelt out words – ‘Michael’, ‘The King of Pop’, and the biopic’s premiere date: ‘4. 24. 26.’
The performances by the universities are part of Antoine Fuqua and Lionsgate, the distribution company’s unique promo for the biopic.
‘Michael’ traces MJ’s life beyond the music, from the discovery of his talent as the lead of the Jackson 5 to the visionary artiste whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world.
The film stars Laura Harrier, Juliano Valdi, Miles Teller, Colman Domingo, and Nia Long as Catherine Jackson and Jaafar Jackson (MJ’s nephew) as Michael Jackson.
