Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has announced the recruitment of 2,500 additional medical and health workers in the state as he inaugurated twin porta cabin hospital, located within the premises of the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna.

The governor who said the facilities inaugurated were first of their kinds in Sub Saharan Africa, explained that the aims of the projects were to check medical tourism and provide intensive cares to patients.

“These (facilities) have been adjudged as the only one in sub Saharan Africa the facilities will stop medical tourism and provide cheap medical treatment to patients in the country,” he claimed.

He announced that Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) have been signed with the Government of Egypt and the Soviet Union to provide consultants that would manage the facilities and also train Nigerian Medical Personnel on the operation of the equipment in the facilities.

The governor said the state would recruit an additional 2,500 medical personnel in the coming months, bringing the total number of health workers employed under his administration to 5,000.

” This is a testament to the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for funds provided to Sub- Nationals by the federal government” he said while acknowledging that the state governments would continue to appreciate the vision of the President.

Bago disclosed that 20 primary Health Care Centers across the state have been renovated and upgraded to level 2 primary health care centers, work on 110 others have reached different degrees of completion and 22 general hospitals have also been renovated.
