Counsel to Sophia Momodu in the ongoing custody dispute with singer Davido has demanded N1 billion in damages from the artiste over alleged defamation, harassment and cyberbullying.

Ebelechukwu Enedah, a partner at PUNUKA Attorneys & Solicitors, made the demand in a letter dated February 24, accusing Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, of conduct that allegedly harmed her professional reputation and exposed her to online attacks.

In the letter issued through her legal representatives, Enedah claimed that the singer’s public comments led to reputational damage, emotional distress and security concerns.

“The aggregate effect of your conduct has been devastating,” the letter stated, adding that she had suffered severe damage to her professional standing and well-founded fear for her safety and that of her family.

The lawyer also faulted the singer for allegedly branding her “the worst lawyer ever,” describing the remark as defamatory and malicious.

“To publicly brand a lawyer of her standing as ‘the worst lawyer ever’ is not the expression of grievance. It is a deliberate and malicious act of reputational destruction,” the letter read.

Enedah further maintained that matters concerning the custody and welfare of a minor should not be subjected to public commentary or social media debate.

“It is equally settled that proceedings concerning the custody and welfare of a minor are not fit for public commentary, sensationalism, or social media spectacle,” she stated.

The development follows a heated court session in February in the custody dispute between Davido and Momodu over their daughter, Imade. Shortly after the proceedings, the singer announced via social media that he was withdrawing his custody application.

Davido had earlier accused the lawyer of referencing his late son during court proceedings, describing it as a “low blow,” and subsequently shared her name online.

In response, Enedah demanded that the singer immediately cease making public comments about her or the case while the matter remains before the court. She also requested a public apology and retraction across his verified social media platforms and in at least two widely circulated national newspapers.

The letter warned that failure to comply within seven days would result in legal action at the Lagos State High Court to enforce the claims, including the N1 billion compensation sought.

As of the time of filing this report, Davido had not publicly responded to the latest demand.
