Iran launched a fresh wave of missiles at Israel early Thursday, sending millions of residents rushing into bomb shelters as the U.S–Israeli war with Iran entered its sixth day.

Israeli air defence systems were activated across key cities, with authorities warning of incoming strikes. Israel’s military said it was working to intercept the barrage, and there were no immediate reports of large-scale casualties from the latest launches.

The attack came just hours after the U.S Senate blocked a resolution that would have required Congressional approval for continued military action, allowing the administration to continue airstrikes on Iranian targets.

The conflict began earlier this week, with joint U.S–Israeli airstrikes against Iranian military infrastructure, including sites in Tehran. Israel has since expanded its strikes to Iranian-backed groups in Lebanon, particularly Hezbollah positions.

Reports also indicate that NATO forces intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile over Turkey, and a U.S. submarine sank an Iranian warship near Sri Lanka, signalling the widening regional impact of the conflict.

Human rights organisations report that over 1,000 civilians may have died in Iran as a result of ongoing U.S–Israeli strikes, with additional casualties in Lebanon and at least a dozen in Israel. Residential areas and hospitals in Tehran have reportedly been hit, worsening the humanitarian crisis. Financial markets are reacting to disruptions in Middle East oil shipping corridors, raising global concerns.

Several countries have begun evacuating citizens from the region, while diplomatic efforts for de-escalation remain stalled.
