Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 36-year-old self-confessed gay, Sikiru Ajibola, for raping a five-year-old boy to death in Ogijo area of Sagamu local government area of Ogun State.

The suspect also buried the boy’s corpse in a shallow grave in the same area.

Ajibola was arrested on Friday from his residence at Olorunwa Arogbeja community following a report lodged with the Police at the Ogijo Divisional Police Headquarters by the chairman of the Community Development Association (CDA), who alerted the security operatives about the development.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest to journalists on Saturday in Abeokuta, the State capital, said Ajibola was arrested consequent upon the report lodged by the CDA chairman which further indicated that the five-year-old victim had died.

“Upon the report, the DPO Ogijo Division, CSP Enatufe Omoh, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to being an homosexual and that while he was having sex with the deceased, the boy gave up the ghost. He confessed further that he quickly dug a shallow grave in a nearby bush, where he hurriedly buried the boy,” Oyeyemi said.

The PPRO further stated that the suspect has since led Police detectives to the shallow grave where the deceased was buried.

Oyeyemi, however, disclosed that the State’s Commissioner of Police, ‘Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the case be immediately transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
