Gov Mohammed, Dogara Salute Obasanjo @89

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has commended the patriotism and nationalism of former President Olusegun Obasanjo for national growth and development, unity, peace and progress.

Similarly, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, also hailed the ex-President, describing him as a “statesman of uncommon stature.”

Governor Mohammed said this in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, who said Nigeria celebrates not just the passage of time in the life of an elder statesman, but also the enduring legacy of a patriot whose footprints are boldly imprinted on the sands of our national history.

“At 89, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo remains a towering figure, resilient, courageous, and unwavering in his commitment to the unity, stability, and progress of our dear country.

“His distinguished service to Nigeria, both in military and civilian leadership, reflects uncommon sacrifice and steadfast devotion to nation-building.

On his part, Dogara, described Obasanjo as a living testimony of grace whose leadership has shaped Nigeria and Africa.

From his early days as a military commander to becoming Nigeria’s democratically elected president, Obasanjo’s journey, Dogara said, exemplifies resilience and service to the people.

He recalled Obasanjo’s role in strengthening democratic institutions, tackling corruption, and implementing bold economic reforms — achievements that remain benchmarks in Nigeria’s history.

Beyond national borders, Dogara highlighted Obasanjo’s interventions in African peace processes, including Liberia and Sudan, cementing his reputation as a respected mediator and global diplomat.

“Baba Obasanjo’s wisdom continues to guide our country. His insistence on justice and equity has made him a moral compass,” Dogara added.

He prayed for the former president’s continued health, describing him as a beacon of hope whose legacy will inspire generations of Nigerians.
