Niger Lifts Embargo On Employment, Seeks Private Sector, NGOs Collaboration

Niger State Head of Service, Hajiya Salamatu Abubakar, says the state has lifted the embargo on employment by directing the state civil service commission to engage the services of specialised categories of applicants in the civil service.

She spoke yesterday at the Niger State Market Place Exhibition for MSMEs organised by GIZ  in Minna for the private sector.

She stressed the need for collaboration among the government, private sector and Non-Governmental Organizations to reduce the alarming rate of youth unemployment.

Hajiya Salamatu said the state government was making frantic efforts to reduce the widening gap between the gainfully employed youths and those in the labour market through training of the youth in entrepreneurial and skills acquisition programmers.

She said: “In view of the high premium Niger State government attaches to youth development and participation in the process of governance, it calls for the attention of all and sundry that there is dire need to reduce the alarming rate of youth unemployment through collaborative effort among government at all levels, the private sector and non- governmental organizations.”

He  added  that the government equally made public three years tax holiday for Local , National and International investors willing to invest in the State.

She commended GIZ for organising the workshop and urged the participants to pay serious attention to presentation by the resource person.
