In a significant shake-up of the federal bureaucracy, President Bola Tinubu, has approved the immediate redeployment of eight serving permanent secretaries to new ministries and departments.

The changes were announced in a circular signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, on Thursday.

The directive, referenced as HCSF/3065/V.I/228, was addressed to a wide array of top government functionaries, including the Chief of Staff to the President, all Ministers, Service Chiefs, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, underscoring the high-level nature of the administrative changes.

The redeployment, which takes effect immediately, sees key officials moving to critical sectors of the administration. Among the most notable changes, Kambari Mahmud Adam is moved from the Ministry of Environment to take over as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

In another key appointment, Danjuma Mohammed Sanusi, is transferred from the Special Services Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) to the Finance Ministry, where he will handle Special Duties.

The circular also outlined a strategic move to ensure a smooth succession in two key ministries.

Ukaire Binyerem Chigbonwu from the Career Management Office (OHCSF) is to proceed to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation to “understudy” the current Permanent Secretary, Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam. Similarly, Muhammed Muktari Yawale from the Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism & the Creative Economy will move to the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology to understudy Mr Philip E. Ndiomu.

This suggested a deliberate effort by the administration to mentor and prepare senior officials for greater responsibilities in complex and technology-driven sectors.

Other redeployments include Rimi Nura Abba from Industry, Trade and Investment to Steel Development, Isokpunwu Christopher Osaruwanwem from Steel Development to Industry, Trade and Investment, Salihu Aminu Usman from Labour & Employment to Environment and Ibrahim Abdulkarim Ozi from the Special Duties Office (OHCSF) to Arts, Culture, Tourism & the Creative Economy.

According to the circular, all affected officials are to complete their handover and takeover processes on or before Friday, March 13 2026.

Walson-Jack directed all parties to ensure a seamless transition to prevent any disruption in the affected Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
