Terrence Howard Opens Up About Childhood Trauma

Actor Terrence Howard has revealed that troubling experiences from his early childhood shaped his understanding of relationships and intimacy, shedding light on the long-term impact of growing up in an unsupervised environment.

Howard best known for his roles in Empire and Iron Ma shared the revelations during a candid interview on the PBD Podcast.

He disclosed that his first sexual encounter occurred at just four years old, involving slightly older children in his neighbourhood.

“I was four. It was the older girls who were watching me they were like six and seven.” he said

Howard said similar experiences continued throughout his early years, which he believes influenced how he viewed relationships later in life.

“I wish I had never done that; I would have been a completely different person,” Howard stated.

The actor noted that the lack of adult supervision in his childhood environment allowed children to engage in activities they did not fully understand.

“We’re just fooling around, and the older kids would sometimes push it further; there weren’t adults around to guide us, so we did things we didn’t fully understand,” he said

Now, as a father, Howard said these experiences have made him especially protective of children and aware of the importance of supervision during formative years.
